Jack Is Back The Forney Jackrabbits are back in the Playoffs for the first time since 2003. After falling behind 14 - 0 in the first quarter the Jackrabbits came roaring back scoring 30 unanswered points to beat the Red Oak Hawks 44 to 30. Peter Smith got the Jackrabbits on the board with a 32 yard run. Then Blake Branton found Clay Bedrick for a 31 yard touchdown to tie the score. The Jackrabbits took the lead 21 to 14 when Peter Smith broke through for a 5 yard touchdown run. Early in the 3rd quarter the Jackrabbits tackled Red Oak Quarterback Grady Latimer in the end-zone for a safety. The Hawks had to kick the ball back to the Jackrabbits and Blake Branton scored on a 21 yard run to give the Jackrabbits a 30 to 14 lead. Later in the 4th quarter Branton passed to Clay Bedrick for a 9 yard touchdown. Peter Smith put the game on ice with an electrifying 91 yard touchdown run. Red Oak scored twice in the 4th quarter making the final score 44 to 30.
Peter Smith finished the game with 263 yards rushing on 30 carries and three touchdowns. Blake Branton rushed 16 times for 166 yards and a touchdown, threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for 3 of the Jackrabbit touchdowns. Clay Bedrick caught 2 passes for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns. Juan Villereal caught 2 passes for 20 yards and Kezie Camp caught 3 for 6 yards to lead the Jackrabbit receivers. The Jackrabbits offensive line did an outstanding job opening holes for Jackrabbit runners who rushed for an astounding 430 yards while the Jackrabbit defense held the Hawks to 93 yards rushing.
The Jackrabbits finish the season 9 - 1, 5 -1 in District to earn a piece to the District 15-4A Championship as tri-champions along with Lancaster and West Mesquite.
