. The Jackrabbits had to make a dramatic 4th quarter comeback scoring 2 times late in the game to defeat the Mabank Panthers. The Jackrabbits scored first on a 31 yard run by Peter Smith early in the 1st quarter. The Panthers answered with a 59 yard touchdown pass to Kolton Browning from Brandon Rasco. The Jackrabbits came right back to take the lead on a 3 yard run by Peter Smith. Again the Panther scored on a 2 yard run by Kolton Browning. Later in the quarter Kolton Browning hooked up with Brandon Rasco for an 8 yard touchdown. At the end of the 1st quarter the Panthers held a 21 to 14 lead. The Panthers struck first in the 2nd quarter when Kolton Browning found Brandon Rasco open for an 11 yard touchdown to extend their lead 28 to 14. The Jackrabbitt's Blake Branton threw 26 yards to Juan Villareal to close the gap to 28 to 21. At the end of the half the Panthers held a 28 to 21 lead. To begin the 3rd quarter Bo Gibson intercepted Kolton Browning and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown to tie the score. At this point the Jackrabbit defense started a big defensive effort only allowing the Panthers to score just one more touchdown, a 5 yard run by Kolton Browning to regain the lead 35 to 28. The Jackrabbits tied the score on a 9 yard run by Blake Branton.
With the game tied at 35 early in the fourth quarter the Jackrabbit defense came alive and stopped the Panthers on a key fourth and one. Eight plays later the Jackrabbits took the lead on a Blake Branton 1 yard run. Later in the quarter Peter Smith put the game away on a 2 yard run.
Peter Smith finished the game with 226 yards rushing on 34 carries, caught 1 pass for 26 yards and scored three touchdowns. Blake Branton ran the ball 13 times for 68 yards and 2 touchdowns and completed 10 of 13 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. Kezie Camp caught 4 passes for 54 yards while Juan Villareal caught 2 for 38 yards and a touchdown. Clay Bedrick, Alex Corbit and Rodney Henderson each caught one pass for the Jackrabbits.
Mabank's Kolton Browning was very impressive completing 23 of 38 passes for 273 passing yards, ran for 2 touchdowns, passed for 2 touchdowns and caught a 59 yard pass for yet another touchdown.
