Britney “Wonder Woman” Benedict pitched 14 innings Saturday at Rockwall-Heath to lead the Lady Rabbits to a two game win in the Class 4A Region II quarterfinals against Frisco, the State’s 5th ranked Class 4A team.Benedict put together two 5 hit games only allowing 4 runs while her Lady Rabbit team mates exploded offensively to put 11 runs on the board on 24 hits.The Lady Rabbits played 14 errorless innings in support of Benedict.Benedict went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s and Sarah Bell was 2-for-4 with an RBI in game three.The Lady Rabbits scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings. Going into the 6th inning Benedict had held the Lady Racoons hitless.
In the first game Saturday, Benedict threw a five-hitter and had an RBI single as Forney won Game 2 of the series, 5-3. In the third inning of Game 2, doubles by Benedict, Ashley McCarroll and Erica LeFlore and a single by Mallory Mitchell produced three runs, giving Forney a 3-1 lead
The Lady Rabbits played 21 innings last Saturday against Paris North Lamar winning the 3rd game in 14 innings.
Frisco (31-5) entered the game ranked 5th in the State.
Forney (31-7) will advance to play Midlothian in the regional semifinals next week.
