Kristen Adkins fired a four-hitter, and Kelsey Schendt drove in two runs as McKinney North evened its Class 4A Region II final playoff series against Forney with a 5- 1 win at Sulphur Springs on Friday.
Forney, which squeezed home a run to tie the score at 1-1 in the bottom half of the opening inning, managed only three hits off Adkins the rest of the way. Meanwhile, McKinney North pecked away, scoring once in the second, twice in the fourth and once more in the fifth. Schendt led North's 10-hit attack with a pair of singles. Lindsey Post added an RBI single in the two-run fourth. Third baseman Amy Kilpatrick reached base three times and scored twice. The decisive third game of the series will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday at Sulphur Springs.
