The McKinney North Bulldogs lived up to their # 2 ranking in the Dallas News Class 4A Rating beating the Forney Jackrabbits 38 to 17 after surviving 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery, returned for a touchdown.
McKinney got on the board first on a 1 yard run by Chase Barrett. The Jackrabbits drove down to the Bulldog 3 yard line, but couldn't put the ball in the end zone and settled for a 20 yard field goal by Thomas Moreland. The Bulldogs answered with a 28 yard touchdown pass from Eric Herbel to David Douglas. The Bulldogs held the Jackrabbits and scored again on a 18 yard run by Barrett. Near the end of the half Justin Price picked up a Chase Barrett fumble and raced down the sideline for a 49 yard touchdown. Thomas Moreland kicked the point. The half ended with the Bulldogs holding a 21 to 10 lead.
The Bulldogs scored a touchdown and a field goal in the 3rd quarter while holding the Jackrabbits scoreless. In the 4th quarter the Bulldogs scored another touchdown to put the game out of reach. With 5:41 left in the game Peter Smith bounced out side and raced through a hole that the left side of the Jackrabbit line opened up for a 56 yard touchdown. Moreland's kick was good.
In the game the Bulldogs Chase Barrett ran for 182 yards on 25 carries and 3 touchdowns. The Jackrabbits Peter Smith picked up 167 yards on 12 carries and scored the game long 56 yard touchdown. Deondre Smith rushed 4 times for 43 yards and the Jackrabbit workhorse Andre DeRosier rushed 11 times for 22 yards.
Coming into the game the Bulldogs knew that they had to stop DeRosier and they keyed on him all night opening up the opportunity for the other Jackrabbit runners. Andre DeRosier caught 4 passes for 27 yards and Richard Romero caught 1 for 30 yards, Brandon Medlock 1 for 4 and Peter Smith 1 for 1 yard.
Another deciding factor in the game was the Jackrabbits were penalized 14 times for 109 yards. There were times that the referee's seemed confused in making some of their calls. The Jackrabbits fumbled 5 times losing 1.
