Jackrabbit Defensive Lineman Clint Kiger traveled to Alpine this week and committed to play football for Sul Ross University. Kiger was the immovable, relentless defensive lineman for the Jackrabbits for the past 2 years. Kiger usually commanded the attention of two offensive linemen and on almost every play was flagrantly held by his opponents.Clint received All-District honors.
Jackrabbit kicker Thomas Moreland committed to the University North Texas Coach Todd Dodge Monday April 15th in Denton. Thomas visited North Texas in March and had met with Special Team Coach Robert Drake. Thomas had been recruited by several other Universities earlier last season that early this year had gone through major Head Coaching changes. When Todd Dodge was hired by North Texas Thomas was hopeful that North Texas might call. Fortunately one of the coaches that had been recruiting Thomas for another University was hired by North Texas and recommended Thomas to the North Texas Coaching Staff. After several conversations with Coach Rush they contacted Thomas and arranged the visit. Thomas will report for 2 a-days August 5th and plans to compete for the starting kicking job.
In early January Thomas competed in the Kicking .Com National Kicking Finals in San Antonio after qualifying in regional competition last summer. Approximately 1,200 kickers from coast to coast participated in regional competition with 80 making the finals in San Antonio. In the opening round Thomas placed 5th which qualified him for the finals of the top 8 kickers. In the finals Thomas finished 2nd in punting, missing the top spot by 1 scoring point which took an average of distance and hang time. The final points were 188 to 189. The 1st place went to a 2nd year College kicker from California that kicked for the University of Oregon in 2005 and for Palomar Junior College in 2006. Being a Junior College kicker had made him eligible for the competition.
In early April Thomas was selected to be the kicker for the Texas All-Stars in the 70th Annual "Oil Bowl" which pits the Texas All-Stars against the Oklahoma All-Stars this summer.

Jackrabbits Offensive Lineman Patrick Daugherty signed a letter of intent with the Air Force Academy Wednesday at Forney High School. Pat was a concensus All-District selection this year for the Jackrabbits. Patrick was being recruited by several Division I Colleges. The 6'4" 275 lb lineman had an outstanding year with the Jackrabbits. Pat lettered 2 years at Forney and lettered as a Sophmore in San Diego, California prior to moving to Forney. In addition to being a concensus 1st Team All-District selection in 2006 he received Honorable Mention in 2005.

Nick Tanner signed a letter of intent to play football at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. Millsaps is a Division III College and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Nick is an honor student at Forney High School and was an outstanding All-District Linebacker for the Jackrabbits.
J B Everett has committed to attend Austin College in Sherman, Texas and play football. J B is an honor student at Forney High School and was an All-District Offensive Lineman for the Jackrabbits.
