The Jackrabbits were playing for undisputed 3^rd place and a chance to make the playoffs for the 1^st time since moving to class 4A and   playing in the toughest district, 10-4A, in the state.  The Pirates won the coin toss and elected to receive.  Thomas Moreland kicked the ball out of the end zone for a touchback and the Pirates started from their 20 yard line.  The Jackrabbit defense held the Pirates on their 1^st possession and the Pirates were forced to punt to the Jackrabbits.  The Jackrabbits moved the ball well on their first possession moving from their own 47 yard line to the Pirate 19 before stalling. Thomas Moreland kicked a 36 yard field goal to give the Jackrabbits a 3 to 0 lead at 9:27 in the first quarter.  The Pirates came back and scored on a 23 yard run by Taylor Dupree who would score 3 times and roll up 160 yards rushing and 42 yard receiving for 202 yards of offense.   The Jackrabbits were moving very well on their next possession until they fumbled at the Pirates 37 yard line.  The Pirates drove down field and on 4^th and 2 from the 2 yard line they fumbled the ball into the end zone. Matt McEuen recovered and the Jackrabbits took over at the 20 yard line with 4:33 left in the half.  The Jackrabbits mixing pass and run moved the ball to the 2 yard line with: 06 seconds left in the half.  With no time outs left the Jackrabbits opted to go for the field goal.  Thomas Moreland’s 20 yard try was good and the Jackrabbits trailed at the half 7 to 6. 

The Jackrabbits received the 2^nd half kickoff and took the lead on a 61 yard run by Peter Smith.  The Jackrabbits went for a 2 point conversion but the pass was incomplete and the Jackrabbits took back the lead 12 to 7.   Later in the quarter the Jackrabbits put together an impressive drive but stalled at the 4 yard line and had to settle for a field goal. Thomas Moreland’s 21 yard kick gave the Jackrabbits a 15 to 7 lead with 4:58 left in the 3^rd quarter. The Pirates mounted a well executed drive and Taylor Dupree scored his 2^nd touchdown on a 7 yard run.  The 2 point try failed and the Pirates cut the Jackrabbit lead to 15 – 13 with 1:54 left in the 3^rd quarter. 

After making one first down the Jackrabbits had to punt back to Poteet.  The Jackrabbit Defense forced the Pirates to go 3 and out and had to punt back to the Jackrabbits.  The Jackrabbits went 3 and out and punted to Poteet. Facing a 4^th and 3 from the 50 yard line the Pirates passed the ball down to the Jackrabbits 21 yard line for a 1^st down with 6:16 left in the game.  On 3^rd and 10 from the 21 Seth Sartain passed to Taylor Dupree in the end zone for the touchdown,  On the try for 2 points Justin Price intercepted and ran the ball to the 20 yard line then lateraled to Matt McEuen who ran the ball in to the end zone for a 105 yard interception return.   The play was nullified for a pushing in the back erasing the 2 points.  Review of the films look like the Poteet defender fell down and the Jackrabbit player fell over the Poteet defender.  The Pirates were ahead 19 to 15 with 5:37 left in the game.  The Jackrabbits were unable to move the ball and facing a 4^th and 12 from the 12 they were forced to punt from their own end zone.  Matt McEuen got off a good punt that was killed at the Pirate 43 yard line.  The Pirates mounted a well executed drive and Seth Sartain scored on a 3^rd and 9 from the 16 yard line.  The PAT was good and with 2:17 left in the game the Pirates held a commanding 26 to 15 lead.  The Jackrabbits went 3 and out and the Pirates took over and ran out the clock.

The Pirates net yards gained from scrimmage was only 1 yard more than the Jackrabbits but were able to score 4 touchdowns while the Jackrabbits only scored 1 touchdown and 3 field goals.  Punts, First Downs and Penalties were also very close.
