There were 2 games played at City Bank Stadium Friday night. Game 1 was won by Wylie 28 - 0. Game 2 was won by Forney 14 to 0. In the first half of the Wylie - Forney contest the Jackrabbits could not overcome both the powerful Wylie Pirates and themselves. The Jackrabbits drove down inside the Pirates 20 yard line twice in the 1st half but turned the ball over, once on an interception and the second on a fumble. The Jackrabbits fumbled 4 times in the first half, losing 2 and suffered 2 interceptions. Both Tony Trotter and Bobby Lind were just a fingertip away from scoring touchdowns. Trotter was wide open on a post but the ball was just an inch too long. Later Bobby Lind who was in the back of the end zone had the ball on his finger tips but couldn't pull it down.
In the second half the character of the Jackrabbit Team was very evident over coming their first half mistakes and totally dominated the Pirates scoring 2 touchdowns while allowing just 61 yards of offense and 3 first downs. The domination started on the kick off when Ted Spillman made a bone jarring tackle that could be heard in the stands. The Jackrabbits held all-world high school wide receiver Jeremy Brubaker to just 2 receptions for 29 yards.
The Jackrabbits had to revamp their offense and defense late in the week after losing their star running back Mekelle Webb and defensive back Quentin Decuir. Tony Trotter playing with a broken thumb played with a cast on his hand and caught 2 passes for 32 yards. Andre Derosier carried the ball 18 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. Bobby Lind caught 5 passes for 55 yards. Landon Hartwick rushed 8 times for 25 yards and a touchdown and completed 11 of 19 passes for 117 yards.
